When I am alone, I never have TV or radio on during the day. At night, TV is on if I want to watch something, otherwise I sit in silence.

Gerry love music loud enough to make the ornaments on the mantelpiece dance, but I feel as though my nerve endings are being rubbed down with sandpaper, particularly if he tries to talk at the same time. He always finishes with Fleetwood Mac's Albatross to calm me down.

I remember one evening when we lived in Barry Gerry and I both spoke at exactly the same moment. He said "Isn't it quiet" and I said "God, it's noisy tonight"! I could hear the clock ticking, the video recorder clicking, a plane overhead, traffic in the distance, trains shunting in the station yard at the bottom of the hill etc etc and he couldn't hear any of it! His deafness enables him to sleep really soundly but my bat ears hear evey tiny sound - not conducive to a good night's rest! Jan said: Agree noise is ok when I'm.
